TODAYS INSPIRATION | Love through the Camera | Bryce and I had a mini Engagement shoot last weekend! It was so much fun and absolutely FREE! One thing I’ve learned from planning this wedding is everyone is trying to get their foot in the door with their talent. I went to a Bridal Fair last month and after booking my photographer for $1300  I received an email weeks later from another photographer. I don’t even remember meeting her, but she told me she would love to do so engagement pictures for free. Of course I said YES! Any excuse I can get a shoot I am totally up for it! Here are a few of those! I was really impressed and extremely excited to see them! Let me know what you think!

 

Frida’s Confidence

TODAYS INSPIRATION | Frida’s legacy | Every since I watched the amazing yet ethnically exotic 2002 hollywood version of Frida featuring Selma Hayek, I have been somewhat obsessed with her persona. Not only was her artwork extremely fascinating, but her look and that bodacious eyebrow can not be missed. A beautiful woman with such a history of tragedy and success. Barely do I look through her art, but the iconic face has become a separate masterpiece. Whenever I see it it almost send shivers down my spine. Why? Maybe the curiosity of a lady that to me seems so figured out, so confident, so knowledgeable. In her eyes she has life at her fingertips. I wish to be like this one day. To accomplish what I set out to and love its reward, no matter how much tribulation it cost. I think we all should look up to people like that. Whether is a church leader, a family member, a historical figure, or the one perfect being Jesus Christ.

From Blog Stalker to Best Friends

TODAYS INSPIRATION | Blogging: what is the purpose| Both Whitney  thatgirlwhit, my roomie, and I both agree that when your in a good healthy relationship, a lot of what used to be important, become somewhat less important. For example blogging. When I was going through my breakup with my now fiancé I would blog almost 2 times a day. It was my escape, the one thing to take my mind off the hurt. But now, I rarely have time to blog. I hate it because blogging is my passion. I lived for it. I loved sharing all my ideas out in the open and seeing if others thought I was crazy! That is how I met my Roommate in fact!

I randomly found her blog on wordpress, started following, became best blog friends, started texting eachother, then she moved to Utah from Georgia, and is now my Roommate!!! Hurraayyyy!!!

Now were best friends in Real Life!

We seriously have so much fun together! I can’t imagine a better person in my life right now. She helped me through my breakup, she seriously gave me the best advice and she just understands me! Totes*

Its crazy how life moves. You never know how one action will effect your life. Because of blogging, I found a new best friend. Two thumbs up for WordPress:)

Confusion = Organization

TODAYS INSPIRATION | Layout and Print | Layout and Print has been a huge inspiration to me as I chugged my way through design school. I remember just looking at all the amazing design mag’s and wishing that I could one day do stuff like that and my teachers wouldn’t send me back to the drawing board. I feel like design has taken a backwards turn and….

Take a look at these works and let me know what you think! Personally it stirs something inside of me and makes me want to design all night/day. Its just so full of mystery and prestigue. The hard part about designing like this is trying to find the right client. Clients these days are very rigid, business motivated, and sticks in the mud when it comes to branding. I crave projects that I can do whatever I want! Those always come out 100x’s better than those with the style guide set in concrete. Design is taking over! Join the Parade!

Ok Stop Me now! I can’t wait to design!!! Good thing I’m at work and thats what I do:)

Birthday Part 1

TODAYS INSPIRATION | Life would not be the same without friends | An update to my favorite blogging community… No RING Yet! :( But I am learning that patience is very well one of the most important virtues that I need to learn.

I have had a GREAT Birthday so far!!! I hung out with a bunch of girlfriends that I have not seen in a long time Saturday during the day! It was fun to talk weddings because they as well are getting married in a couple months. Then at night Bryce took me out! I was hoping for a romantic rondevou (have no idea how to spell it) with a path lined with rose petals and my ring sitting in a gorgeous golden pillow waiting to be placed on my freshly painted nails… haha! ok ok too much I know, but a girl has got to dream! That didn’t happen unfortunately, it was ok though. He took me to a romantic dinner and then we played miniature croquet and laughed til our stomachs hurt. Great night!

Then Sunday night I had a Dessert Party for my Provo friends! I am excited for Wednesday night because I am going out to dinner with the Sexy Seven= best friends from college and life!

Busy with Design

TODAYS INSPIRATION | Busy Busy Busy | OK, I know I have been so aloof these past couple weeks. I can’t believe I have neglected the one place I feel at home.

A lot has been happening lately. First of which is I got let go at my job. This may sound sad but it has been extremely refreshing. I felt like a bird in a cage that just wanted to spread its wings. It’s been a week without a real job and I can honestly say it feels great! I am a freelance Graphic Designer and am so busy with all my design work. People just come to me and need designs done. From logos to websites and iphone apps too. I do it all! I love it! Working for yourself is soooo much better.  Heres a logo and iphone app I designed yesterday for a company called Stanzify.

I had a job interview this week and it went amazing! Its at a company called North Ridge Publishing where they create magazines for the crafty homemaker’s soul. Cooking, cards, scrapbooking, cricut, and more. I hope they call me back because it would be a great postion. I’lll just do freelance on the side like I’ve been doing. This is the design I did for them.

As well as those I have been designing a Logo, Business Card and a brochure for this company called Compass Surgical Network.

I also designed a logo for a company called Decoration A Day. Here is the logo in b/w and color.

Then on top of that I have been planning a Wedding! August 14th People! Woopie! Funny part about it is I’m not even engaged yet! My boyfriend is taking foooooorrrrreeeeeevvvvver to propose! We could be married before I even get the ring! haha I like to tease him but I have a feeling its coming soon. At least with all the nagging i’ve put him through. haha jk! I love that boy:) With all the craziness I did find time to hula hoop at walmart. Had a few on lookers, pretty proud of myself!

Hunger Games Opening Night!

TODAYS INSPIRATION | Hunger Games | It’s here!! It’s finally here! I just barely finished the first book yesterday in the nick of time for the movie! Loved it so much. It takes me forever to read books surprisingly. I never have any free time between my full time job, graphic design freelance, and my boyfriend! I don’t have tickets for opening night but I am going to go see it as soon as I can! I want to dress up like Katniss! I never have dressed up for a movie, especially one that I’ve read the book for! “Girl on Fire” is my inspiration:) Please let me know how the movie is if you see it at midnight tonight!
